On the 30th October the Commissioner attended and spoke at the Victim Support conference, Developments in Tackling Domestic Abuse.
The Commissioner said, “Today I will speak about the Victims and Prisoners Bill which marks a monumental opportunity to improve access to support and services for victims and survivors of domestic abuse.
“However, as it is currently drafted, the Victims Bill will fail to realise the change needed to meet the needs of victims and survivors and improve quality and quantity of provision of support services.
“This is why I strongly recommend that amendments are made to the Victims Bill. I propose five amendments which would be transformational for the response to domestic abuse and would bring long overdue investment into domestic abuse services.”
